No Bones About It: These Are The 5 Best Dog-Friendly Hotels in NYC

Traveling with a pet is something that takes a lot of logistical planning, and one of the biggest concerns travelers have is where they’ll stay if they bring their pooch along. New York City is an extremely dog-friendly hub, with an estimated 600,000 dogs calling The Big Apple home. For those looking to head to NYC and want to bring their pup along, here are my top 10 picks for the best dog-friendly hotels in NYC.

My dog, Bowie, and I always travel with Zoop to keep him fresh!

Pro-tip: Worried about your furry friend making a mess or offending hotel staff with a funky smell after a long day of travel? Try Zoop! Zoop is a non-toxic pet grooming brand that makes freshening up your pet while on the road a breeze! Their Health + Odor Grooming Wipes and Towels are made from all natural ingredients and are individually packaged, making it super easy to throw one in your purse or backpack while on the move. The best part is the towels last up to six days, meaning you’ll still have plenty of space for your belongings and for keeping your furry friend fresh.

1. The Williamsburg Hotel

My dog, Bowie, at The Williamsburg Hotel

My dog, Bowie, and I stayed in The Williamsburg Hotel for a proper staycation back in 2021. Though I originally was only staying for two nights, I extended my stay to a week because they treated us so well. Bowie was given royal treatment, with treats and a custom card written to him. He was also given a water bowl and was able to dine with me at The Williamsburg Restaurant on the main floor. Williamsburg is such a dog-friendly neighborhood, that it simply makes sense to stay here. The rooms provide great views of the NYC skyline, and nearby Domino Park is a great spot to soak up some sun with your pooch.

The Williamsburg Hotel is so pet-friendly that since I’ve stayed there with Bowie, they’ve launched a new POOCH Program, with special “Wag Like a Local” rates, which essentially waives the pet fee entirely. With the POOCH Program, dogs will be given macaron treats and a special pup-friendly mattress.

2. W New York – Times Square

W New York – Times Square welcomes one pet up to 40 pounds. Not only does W New York – Times Square allow dogs, but they allow cats and exotic pets, as well. Pets may be left unattended, but housekeeping will not enter the room if unattended pets are present. Pet beds and bowls are available. One of the greatest beauties of W New York – Times Square is that it’s centrally located, being right in the heart of the city, and a stroll to Central Park will only take you 15 minutes.

  • Pet Fee: $100 per stay, plus $25 per night

3. Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown

For those who want a luxurious getaway with their pups, the only obvious answer is to stay at the Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown. The Four Seasons is not only the getaway you rightfully deserve, but the getaway your pup deserves as well. Dogs and cats under 25 pounds are welcome, and can expect royal treatment as prime as the one any adult would expect when visiting a hotel as prestigious as The Four Seasons. The location is ample for those who are looking for a World Trade Center visit, and it’s close to many major subways to go see other touristic New York spots.

  • Pet Fee: $125 per stay for a dog up to 20 lb

4. The Royalton Park Avenue

The Royalton Park Avenue is a chic hotel located in a prime location. It’s a short jaunt over to both Union Square and Herald Square, but without the loudness and chaos that comes with those overly-popular neighborhoods. One of my favorite things about The Royalton Park Avenue is its stellar rooftop bar, featuring cocktails like a dirty vesper with celery-infused Grey Goose and one of the best espresso martinis in town. Not to mention the stunning pool that’s open year-round! The best part, of course, is that The Royalton Hotel and The Royalton Rooftop are both dog-friendly.

  • Pet Fee: $250 per stay, dogs of any size are welcome

5. The Roxy Hotel

New York’s Roxy Hotel is so dog-friendly that it actually provides human and poochy visitors keys to Soho Grand Dog Park. Up to 2 dogs are allowed, so Roxy Hotel is a great option for those who have several furry friends. The best part is pets stay for FREE. This is the only hotel on this list where there’s no pet fee! The hotel’s location is prime for those who love to shop ’til they drop, as it’s closely situated to Soho’s Broadway and the bustling street vendors of Canal Street.
